Apparently it takes 3 to fix a flat.
Cycleangelo no brakes/no retention going down one of the steepest hills on the ride.
Chimichanga. Nomnomnom.
Piermont podium:
This was a very last minute ride. I was pretty intoxicated the night before which was the first I heard of it. "Piermont ride, meetup at union square at 10am" was the text I received. I hoped that my condition the next morning would allow me to partake. It was a rough start, but I'm really glad I did it. I burned all the alcohol off within the first stretch.
The weather was perfect. The ride out we did our usual. We paced ourselves and rode in line. Angelo gets the crash of the day award. He hit a huge bump on the westside path sending him and his bike flipping. He walked away virtually unscathed with a few scratches and a flat tire.
Once we hit Piermont, we ended up at Tequila sal y Limon, a mexican restaurant in the town. The food was amazing. I hoped it wasn't too much for the ride back, but at that moment I didn't care. I was hungry as fuck.
The ride back is always a free for all. I wouldn't say its a race, but its pretty much every man for themselves. Once we hit the hills I pushed it hard. The food and drink were not sitting so well with me. I felt like my stomach was going to explode and/or I was going to puke. Eventually this feeling wore off and I was able to keep a 22-24mph pace all the way back. Right about the middle of the ride back to the GWB, it started raining. It felt so awesome at the moment, and made me ride even harder. Total miles for the day, just a hair under 65.
After I got home, my girlfriend had been BBQ'ing all day with her friends. I was greeted with food and beer. After a nice cold shower, I indulged.
This was my favorite ride of the year so far. Spontaneous rides always seem to go smoother than when we put a lot of thought into it. Can't wait to do it again!
