A self portrait. Camera+ for the iphone has a timer.
It seems that there aren't many people off on wednesdays, and I'm always itching to ride. Yesterday I took out the BMC and went on a nice long ride. I initially had piermont in my head, but questioned wether I would want to ride out there alone. I told myself that I'd get to the lighthouse under the GWB, and see how I felt at that point. I ended up just making the trek.
I went from Bushwick down the east river path, then crossed Manhattan and rode up the west side path to the GWB. After that I found my way to the GWB entrance, and rode over and up 9W to Piermont. A total of 70 miles. I had thought it was more until I mapped it. Out of all the long rides I do, I have done more of them solo. I did my first century solo. I still enjoy it a lot, but nothing beats good company on rides!
The weather was perfect for riding, and I felt like I wore exactly what I needed to keep myself comfortable all day. I usually experience knee and neck pain on long rides, but this time is was very minimal. I can't really ask for more than that.
I got home and immediately got ready and went out to dinner with my girlfriend and grandfather. We had a really amazing dinner and drinks. The perfect end to a perfect day!
I took a few iphone shots along the way, seen above...
